12 Most Frequently Asked Multi-Site Questions:

1. What are the advantages of launching a multi-site?

We’re currently doing seven weekend worship services at the Irving campus. Beyond the challenge we currently face with capacity – the need to fit more cars and more seats in our church as we continue to experience ongoing growth – statistics show that people prefer to attend a church within a 15-minute drive of their home. When people are required to drive more than 15-minutes to church, it becomes more of a challenge to attend worship services regularly, serve and experience deeper involvement in their church. Additionally, those who live farther away have a much more difficult time encouraging neighbors and co-workers to attend. Becoming a multi-site church means that we take church to them, all over the Mid-Cities area, which includes cities such as Arlington, H.E.B., North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Watauga, and Keller. Together, the Mid-Cities area represents more people than either Dallas or Fort Worth. Launching an additional campus is the next step to connect as many people as possible to Jesus.

 2. How did we determine where to launch our first multi-site?

The area was selected based on two primary factors. How far can we expect our neighbors to drive to visit Calvary Church, and where do we have significant numbers of Calvary Church members and attendees living beyond that distance. The Mid-Cities location is both 20 minutes away and we have close to 500 Calvary families within a five-mile radius.

3. How many people do we need to launch our first multi-site?

We wanted 175+ adults to launch our first multi-site in the Mid-Cities area.  God exceeded that expectation with more than 300 adults, plus kids on top of that!

4. Are other areas being considered for future multi-sites?

We anticipate that we will launch more campuses as part of our Reaching Ahead initiative. Those locations will be chosen based on the same criteria we used to select the Mid-Cities location.

5. How will starting a multi-site impact our current site?

Some Calvary members who currently attend the Irving campus could eventually call the Mid-Cities campus their home. How many will do that? We can’t know for sure. We want 175+ adults to launch our first multi-site in the Mid-Cities area. Unlike the typical church plant, we will not actually be “losing” anyone. We will still see each other at church-wide events, such as Showtime, LoveLoud, and the Plunge. We’ll still all be a part of the Calvary family…one church in multiple locations.

 6. Who will be the Calvary Mid-Cities campus pastors? And explain the role of the campus pastors.

The Calvary Mid-Cities campus pastors will be Chris and Amy Ayon. The role of the campus pastors is to be the face of Calvary Church in the new location…to carry over the “DNA” of what it means to be Calvary Church. The campus pastors give leadership to worship services, staff, servant leaders and those attending.

 7. Where will Pastor Ben and Pastor George teach?

Calvary Church is blessed with an incredible teaching team. Pastor Ben and Pastor George plan on rotating between campuses at times. But, because of technology we will be able to receive their teaching on the big screen each week at Calvary Mid-Cities.

 8. How many Sunday worship services will be at the new multi-site?

We plan to start with one Sunday worship service at 11am. Why 11am? That is the time that the un-churched are more likely to attend. We have also built in the option to add another Sunday service as the church grows.

 9. Will there be a mid-week worship service at the new multi-site?

Starting out we will offer a Mid-Cities mid-week worship service only at the Irving campus.

 10. What will the Sunday worship service at the new multi-site be like?

The services at the Irving campus and the Mid-Cities campus will follow the same format in terms of teaching, technology, live music, and a full children’s program. There will be refreshments and opportunities to connect as well.

 11. Will we have youth ministries at the new multi-site?

In the beginning we will offer youth ministries only at the Irving campus on Wednesday night. But every Sunday a member of our Calvary Youth Staff will be at the Mid-Cities campus connecting with young people.

 12. How can I get involved?

First, pray earnestly. This vision to reach a new community and impact thousands of lives can only happen as God leads and we follow him. Second, go joyfully. Pick up a Next Step Card at one of the Info Centers and prayerfully consider where you feel God is leading you and your family to attend. Drop your Next Step Card in the giving container or at one of the Info Centers. Third, serve passionately. This new campus will provide many new areas where servant leaders are greatly needed. Consider the opportunities at the campus you choose and commit to serve passionately in at least one area. Fourth, give generously. If you made a financial commitment to Reaching Ahead, please remain faithful to your commitment. If you haven’t made a financial commitment, whether in tithing or to Reaching Ahead, I encourage you to do so. Going multi-site is a step of faith that requires all of us doing our part.
